Gel Skins

Gel Skins.  The term kind of creeps me out.  For some reason it reminds me of being a kid and getting totally sunburned.  A few days later my oldest sister would delight in peeling away strips of skin from my back.  I know. Gross, right?  Sorry.  Didn't mean to creep anyone out - just a little stream of consciousness blogging...

Back to (gulp) gel skins.  I didn't really get it when I saw people talking about them but when I took a mixed media class and saw how easy they are to make I was hooked.  I really like the translucent effect and how you can fold them on top of each other to get ripples and the like.  Summer is coming...beachy art is on the horizon.

I made these ATCs for a technique swap and used gel skins for a watery effect.

I kind of feel like something is missing on the seahorses but can't decide what.  Words?  I usually add a word or words to my ATCs so that must be it.

Have a great day!

On Gossamer Wings

I went on a wee bit of a spending spree a few weeks ago.  Amongst my other splurges was a batch of butterflyish delights from Rubber Dance stamps.  I used one on this ATC.

I need to work on honing my photography skills.  I tried (I dare say, unsuccessfully) to capture the shine on her wings and 'coat'.  I painted Perfect Pearls on her wings (Biscotti all over and Mint along the edges and lines) and then some Olive Vine Glimmer Mist on her coat.  It looks so pretty in real life.  Sigh...

I'm adding this to the Rubber Dance spring challenge, too.  Yay, Spring!

Freaky Little Thing

Why, yes she is!

I've had some untouched, unmounted red rubber from VLVS sitting on my desk for several weeks.  You see, I had run out of EZ Mount and my local store had as well.  I try to buy local - I like the idea of supporting small business and especially artsy/craftsy brick and mortar small business.  I just couldn't take it anymore though and finally ordered the stuff online.  I was turning into a freaky little thing myself having these staring at me!

I used bright, spring colors to create my little beasty girl.  I'm going to enter her in the Rubber Dance spring challenge for this month.

Oh, beautiful and funky stamps!  I love you!

Is this Grungy?

I hope so.  That's what I was aiming for, but it's been so long since I've done anything artsy that I'm not sure I trust my gut.  I made this to trade in a grunge-themed ATC swap.

Hope she likes it!
