I have a friend who loves mermaids and all things ocean-y so I made her birthday card.
I stamped Smushasha on white cardstock and then colored her in with Copics. In my mind mermaids are a bit sparkly so I added some glitter to her hair and tail. It seemed like her body should be kind of slippery-looking too so it got a coat of Diamond Glaze. After some serious fussy cutting I glued her onto the background and popped up her head and fin with foam. (Okay, confession. In the fussy cutting process her head was lopped off. Poor Smushasha, but I do like the lifted-up look anyway).

Perfect choice for your friends birthday card and i agree Mermaids should have a glistening look to them. Stunning colours and some fabulous techniques, her head looks perfect so a happy accident there :-) xxx
ReplyDeleteIf there is a debate about whether or not a mermaid is an animal, you certainly are safe with the star fish because they definitely are animals! Lovely card, Julie! Your friend will love it!
ReplyDeleteOk so mermaids WERE harmed in the making of this card lol. Yay for the happy accident, she looks perfect to me Julie, and just for this week she can be an animal :-) xx
ReplyDeleteFantastic Julie! I am not a stamper (much) so I am in awe of this work!
