The Guardian ATC

I love this stamp from Stampotique.  Her name is Communitree and she reminds me of some woodland spirit from an enchanted forest who takes care and stands guard over the living things therein.  I made this for the 'one word' ATC trade over on the Stampotique Facebook page this month.

I'm still working on capturing glittery, shimmery bits in my photographs.  Her hair and the word, spirit, both have Wink of Stella on them to make them a little extra special.

Happy Sunday and thanks for stopping by.

Clean & Simple Stampotique Style

The Muse requested, no, insisted, that I play with my fave Stampotique bee stamps today.  I made this card for the CAS challenge over on the SDC.

I am telling you I just don't get it.  For years, literally YEARS, I was ogling these bee stamps and I never bought them.  I think I was unsure if I really "needed" them or was going to really "use" them.  Yet, whenever I saw someone's creative project with them I would ooo and ahh and wish that I had them in my hot little hands.  I finally caved and bought them and the clouds parted and angels sang.  Yes!  I did need them!

Does this happen to you?  Do it!

Love is in the Air...

Oh, those sweet days of youth!  Remember the classroom Valentines Day parties and everyone would bring the cute Valentines, there'd be delish sweets to eat and there was bound to be a box or two of conversation hearts in your Valentine treat bag?  I took a nostalgic journey making this ATC for a Valentines Day swap.

Media used: alcohol inks, Distress inks, old book

Happy (Early) Valentines Day!

Lunar Contemplation ATC

On January 20-21st in the wee hours there will be a lunar eclipse.  I don't know if celestial happenings feel as mysterious to everyone else as they do to me, but I think they touch something very primal hearkening back to the early days of human existence.  They're pretty magical.

In celebration of the lunar eclipse I joined an ATC swap celebrating the moon.  I knew I wanted to reach for some of my fave VLVS stamps to create this.

I kept trying to add more things to this ATC, but every time I did it detracted from the beautiful silvery glow of the moon (thank you , Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist).

There's also a bit of shimmer on the sentiment.

Are you going to try to catch the lunar eclipse?    It's a super blood wolf moon which means three things are happening at once: 1) the first full moon in January, 2) a full moon occurring when the distance between Earth and the Moon is as short as possible and c) a lunar eclipse.  Wow!

She is a Dreamer of Dreams ATC

Good morning!  So far 2019 has been a decently creative year.  I've been getting back into trading ATCs and making cards.  On my desk is a stack of papers ready to be turned into a Valentines Day mini album.  Now, it's been a REALLY long time since I've made a mini album; hopefully The Muse cooperates.

But that's for another day.  Today my share is an ATC for a paper doll themed swap.  I love these Tim Holtz paper dolls. There's great variety in the pack.  Here she is...my little dreamer.

I started with gesso'd Bristol paper and then added some embossing paste through a stencil.  After that came some painting with glimmer mist, some splatters, digging into the stash of ancient patterned papers and a smidge of Distress ink...

I tried to capture some of the glimmery bits in the picture below.  I used both Winter Copper and Olive Vine - nice vintage-y colors.

Now it's sitting on my desk waiting to be shipped off.  What's on your desk today?

Recycled Christmas Card ATC

It's always a little sad to me to just toss out beautiful Christmas cards.  Being an avid recycler I jumped at the chance to join a recycled Christmas card ATC swap
 over on SwapBot.

I wish I'd thought of taking a picture of the original card, but here's what I salvaged from the recycle bin post-cutting for a comparison.

It really didn't take much to change it up into an ATC.  I added some glass bead gel medium to the bottom, diecut some pine bits from watercolor paper and added some frosty glitter to them and finished off with a little washi tape on the side.  Easy breezy!

Do you recycle your cards into art?
