CHALLENGE-ing ATCs, Part 2

Here is the second ATC for the 5-things challenge.  I'm not really into the cute, doe-eyed images, but this gifted stamp was sitting on my desk and it seemed perfect for this ATC.

Here are the 5 things:

White paint: rubbed over the collaged and painted background
Words:  the collaged background has some ripped book pages, there are words on the magazine clipping and there's the sentiment
Washi tape: upper left-hand corner (flowers)
Magazine clipping:  book image (title: Scentual Garden)
Person: she's actually a garden fairy, but if you don't tell, I won't

That's a wrap!  Now I need to get this in the mail...

Garden ATC

Yesterday, I was invited to do a personal swap on SwapBot with a garden theme.  I woke up early this morning with a frenzy of ideas floating around my brain.  Had to get right to work before I lost it.

The Garden Artist ATC

I love the quote by Oscar de la Renta.  It seemed perfect for my swapping partner who is not only a gardener but a creator of some great looking art as well.

I knew I wanted multiple layers in greens.  The base is patterend paper that has a repeated pattern of lettuce in olive green.  Next came stencils: green dots (Distress paint), numbers (Distress ink), diamonds (Distress ink).  I'm going through a bit of a shiny phase and couldn't resist rubbing some green Stickles over the whole thing.

The flower was created using colored strips of a dictionary page which I glued onto cardstock.  Originally they were a blue, pink, purple mix but the color was too light so I added purple over the whole thing.  I held back and only applied a dab of purple Stickles on a the smaller flower dots.

On a slightly different note, total rookie maneuver yesterday.  I made a bunch of ATCs for a big swap and forgot to take pictures.  Totally bummed as I know I'll forget what I did later and they were all totally different.  C'est la vie...live and learn...yada yada yada.  But here are some that I haven't shared yet here.

How does Your Garden Grow?

For about a week I've had a 6" x 6" canvas sitting on my desk that has gradually been transformed.  I started it with a prompt from the SDC challenge to use text on a project.  Acrylic paints dripped down and became a forest.  Paper scraps were doodled upon and metamorphosed into flowers.  Modeling paste, spray inks and little metal pieces from my stash were sprinkled about and finally I ended with this:

Can you still the bits of text from the Japanese book I used?

 

 

 

 

The flower stems are pieces of chain that came from various necklaces my daughter had when she was little.  I KNEW I'd find a way to use them some day!

Oops Baby

No, this is not an announcement!  LOL...

I am a frequent visitor to the Moxie Fab World blog and really liked the latest Tuesday Trigger challenge. 

The watercolor idea struck a chord with me so I got out my dusty watercolors and played around.  Whipped out some markers and ink.  Woo Hoo!  I'm on a roll!  My mom hasn't gotten a card in a while so I excitedly put everything together, matted the watercolored flowers, stamped the sentiment and dots.  I like it!  

 So I go to open the card to write a message to her... oh... dang. I put everything on upside down.

Let's just call this a trick, alternative card, shall we?  Oh well, Mom loves me no matter how goofy my cards turn out.
