Feelin' Groovy with Tag Tuesday

Over at Tag Tuesday the theme this week is the Swinging Sixties.  When I think of the 60's acid rock, hippies, war protests and psychedelic drugs come to mind.  For my tag I tried to incorporate these by including Seattle icon, Jimi Hendrix, swirly bright colors and 'peace'.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your week.  We're counting down the days until school starts here.  :)

A little fun with Tag Tuesday

Sneaking in a little paper-y play time this morning.  I just finished my Tag Tuesday tag for this week where the theme is 'Windows, Gates, Doors & Portals'.  I knew an interactive element was in order.  I was thinking a flap to open in a window-esque fashion, but it evolved into a door.

Isn't that fun?  The 'roof' is embossed with a ticket embossing folder with the Admit One highlighted.  Seemed appropriate when I was looking for something to jazz up the tag top; one might have trouble juggling too many heartthrobs...

This elf needs to get back to work.  Wishing you all a safe and happy weekend.  Thanks for stopping by!

AWOL

Hello, peeps!

My lazy summer days mysteriously got busy as August hit.  My mother-in-law was in town for a visit, the kiddos had soccer tournaments and my paper bag puppets were rediscovered by customers.  I recently had a request to create a Thomas the Train invitation.  Always up for a challenge I went to work with paper and glue.  I must say, I think he's a pretty cute rendition.

My creative muse is supposed to be whispering about Santa, Christmas and Hanukkah right about now, but devilish creature that she is she keeps pointing me in a Halloween-esque direction.  Here are a couple of new items I've added to the shop.
Creepy Halloween Coasters, $19.95
Skull image stamped on medical dictionary pages
Both of these items use recycled/repurposed materials.  The tiles are contractor leftovers and the Skull Dictionary Pages are taken from an old medical dictionary that may have otherwise met its demise in a recycle bin.

I hope August is finding you well.  Back to work for me...

Butterfly ATC - SDC 111

Jane over at Stampotique Designers Challenge threw out a color challenge this week: purple, yellow and orange.  I made an ATC using her colors.
The base started with an old book page colored with yellow ink.  Next came cardstock colored with Distress Inks.  I randomly stamped the flower image over the whole thing and then the sentiment.  A little tear, a butterlfy and some Stickles finished it off.

Supplies:
• Distress Inks: Squeezed Lemonade, Concord Grape, Wild Honey, Orange Marmalade
• Stamps: Stampotique - Spray, Master Butterfly
• Butterfly: Memory Box
• Other: Cardstock, book page, orange Stickles

Thanks for stopping by.  Now I just have to find someone to trade it with!  ;)

Calendar Tags and yet more ATCs

Yes, indeed.  Jumped right into those SCS swaps with both feet a couple of months ago.  Now all of the due dates are on my doorstep and I've realized that with fall right around the corner the Steed household will be a beehive of activity which equals less craftalicious time for me so I've avoided signing up for (many) more.

This weekend found me and my inky fingers finishing up a Calendar Tag swap and Alphabet ATC swap (my letter is H).

That's a lotta tags!

The tags need to be in "Tim Holtz style" and my months are August and May.  I previously shared my August tag HERE  but here is my tag for May:

I especially like how the peacock background turned out.  I was thinking Mothers' Day for May but it could also simply represent spring, weddings or graduations I suppose.

My alphabet ATCs are an ode to recycling and my penchant for saving EVERYthing.

I had no clue really what I wanted to do when I started so I took out my blanks and began gluing torn bits of paper towels that I'd used for mopping up excess ink (mostly Dylusions).  Happy with that I added some stenciling over the top (the stencil is from sequin waste).  Following the stenciling I dumped out scraps of paper that had bits of ink, paint, stamping, etc. and cut them into heart shapes.  A little washi tape and a phrase finished them off.

Off to package these up and send them on their merry way.  Have a great day!

Sunday Postcard Art - Friends

Running late again this week on my card, but here is my friend-themed postcard for SPA.  Click on the photo for a better view...

This reminds me of my very good friend, Margaret.  She is always there to lend an ear or a shoulder.  :)

Thanks for stopping by today.
