SDC 254 - Text Background

Here's a little secret confession...I hoard old books - phone books, text books, childrens' books, romance novels, dictionaries.  The reason I can't let them go is that they make excellent backgrounds and embellishments for papery projects.  That said, the challenge over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog is right up my alley this time:

"Use a book, stamp, journal, dictionary, newspaper, letter or anything with text.  Let's see text in your background."

Did you enjoy the new release blog hop?  Awesome new designs, yes?  I inked up another one of my faves from the new release to create a card.

I love the whimsical, nostalgic feel of these little beach huts.  It almost makes you hear waves crashing on the shore, doesn't it?  You can find the Beach Huts stamps HERE on the Stampotique website.

Come join us in the challenges this month for a chance to win a $30 gift certificate to the Stampotique online store!

Beachy ATCs

I so love when The Muse is awake bright and early.  I really had no idea where these were going to go when I started them yesterday.  They are for a texture-themed swap over at SwapBot.

I glued the navigational chart bits on an ATC base and smooshed on some modeling paste, followed by sprays of ink and some beads.

I found the quote this morning and if felt like just the perfect one to finish them off.

Happy Monday and have a great week!

Beachy Trio

My mixed media ATC group has a beach theme this time.  Apparently I was feeling glittery and shiny.  :)

Title: Incoming Tide
Materials: nautical map, cheesecloth, sandpaper, glass bead medium, Dylusions spray inks, Distress ink, Distress stain, Stickles
Title: Night Swimming
I used to love to go to the beach at night when I was growing up in southern CA.  On hot summer nights a quick dip was certainly in order.  The title reminds me of the REM song.  Materials: Distress paint, Dylusions spray inks, metallic acrylic paint, Stickles, glass bead gel medium

Title: In the Shallows
I tried a DIY crackle paint technique on the seahorse.  The cracks aren't very deep but I like the way it turned out.  Materials: acrylic paint, Dylusions spray inks, gesso, Diamond Glaze, dye ink, Pitt pen, white Signo pen, Stickles, Distress inks

These make me so ready for hot, lazy, summer days by the beach.  The kiddos are counting down the days until school's out.
