Sitting Around Being Fabulous

You know...just the usual.  Back in February I blogged here about a mini canvas I made for my niece.  I never got around to posting the card I made for her too.

I used my *new* Dylusions saying stamp set as well as a technique (totally forget the name of it though) stamping the main image in a light-colored ink then coloring the image in with Copics.  For the background I used Distress Paints (woo hoo!) and Dylusions spray inks.

Off to go enjoy some Seattle SUNSHINE!

Pool Party!

A friend recently asked me to make some cards and tags for a joint birthday party for her son and daughter.  I have a water drop stamp that I LOVE so pulled it out to make these.

I played with a bunch of different designs before I came up with this one.  I think it works well for an 11- and 12-year-old.  Hope the kids think so too!

Oh, the fun that got done!

My son's school recently wrapped up their production of Seussical the Musical.  Wow!  What a blast it was to be part of this wild adventure.  Months of rehearsals, hours and hours of singing and dancing, frantically racing between school and the ice rink for my little guy. So proud of my little dude for all the work he put in and humbled by the hard work of all the parents in the background as well.  Good stuff.  In addition to helping behind the scenes I was asked to make thank you cards for the department heads.  I searched high and low for Suess-ish stamps but didn't find what I was looking for.  Teachers' section at JoAnns to the rescue!  I ended up going with a simple 'Thanks' sentiment, but this one was really my favorite.

Now I just need to figure out how to get songs about Horton, Mayzie, Who's, Wickershams out of my head...

Gee Thanks!

Second post today - woo hoo!  I made this for the WMS Lucky challenge.

I'm thinking that if somebody does something nice for you you're one lucky person!  ;)  Of course the colors are St. Patrick's Day inspired as well...
TFL and Happy St. Patrick's Day (again)!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

For my tag this month I opted to go with an Irish theme rather than Tim's Easter theme.

The tag base is a #8 manila tag colored with Distress Paints (love these!) and Dylusions ink with a bit of Walnut DI around the edges.  Other additions are the fence die (Alterations), tissue tape and house stamps.

I used Picket Fence Distress Paint to cover the metal wing and make it look more angelic.

I also followed Tim's example for making the cut out with tinsel underneath though I used Spellbinders and Sizzix dies.  The ribbon is colored with Broken China Stain and a smidge of Walnut Ink.

Here's the whole blessing:

"May you always walk in sunshine,
May you never want for more,
May Irish angels rest their wings,
Right beside your door."

Check here for Tim's tag and instructions.

Thanks for stopping by.  May the luck of the Irish be with you today!

Color Palette Challenge

Look at these luscious colors!  EtsyGreetings Team is having a color palette challenge using this for inspiration.  Yum.

I initially made a couple of cards for this, but in retrospect I think my use of kraft is a little off so I'll probably come up with another one or two.  In the meantime, here's what I've got so far...

UPDATE:  I actually did get around to making another card!  Here's the one I'm submitting for the challenge.

Happy Friday!

Feeling Lucky?

I love March.  Green, other than the ever-present evergreens, is returning to the drab landscape and the fun and whimsy of St. Patrick's Day gets me thinking about what mischief I can play on my kiddos.  I was up to a little fun and mischief recently with paper and ink.

I don't recall how I started this.  I think there was just a scrap piece of paper and I was just aching to get some of Dyan's bright green Cut Grass Dylusions spray on something. I sprayed, spritzed, stenciled and stamped to my heart's content.  Once it was dry I sat there with a "Now what?" expression on my face.  It was an odd-shaped piece of paper and I didn't see simply gluing into my art journal as a satisfactory ending.  I ended up cutting it into pieces for background pieces on cards.

The St. Patrick's Day stamps are from a little mini set that I couldn't resist buying while waiting in line at JoAnn's.  I wish they wouldn't put those there.  I'm a sucker for them every time.

This little dude from Stampotique was a Christmas present from my kids. How cool is that?! They know their mom...love him.

Funny story.  My daughter and I were driving down the street by the local community college and there was a slender young man, all in black with straight black hair and rather serious-looking, walking down the street.  My daughter exclaims, "Mom!  He looks like  one of those stamp dudes!"  (I have several Daniel Torrente images from Stampotique.) We both cracked up.  Weird thing is that I was thinking the same thing!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great week!
