50th Birthday Card

I love this card!

My friend, Sandra, had a 50th birthday party today and I made this card for her.  It was SO much fun to make.

I love that I got to use so many different items in my stash for it, too.  Here's the short list of what I used:

Stamps:
  • Unity Stamp Co
  • River City Rubber Works
  • Unknown
Inks:
  • Distress Inks
  • Memento
  • Copics
Dies:
  • Lawn Fawn
  • Paper Smooches

Other:
  • Stickles
  • Wink of Stella
How about a couple more views...

This is what it looks like straight out of the envelope.

Can you see the sparkly bits on the candles?  There's glitter on the candles on the cake and Wink of Stella on the larger candles.

I hope you think this is a fun project, too.  Happy Summer!

You Float My Boat

It's summertime and the livin' is easy...

As I type I'm delighting in a delicious, frosty treat fresh from the ice cream truck. Mmmmm...  Summer reminds me of sunny days at the beach, too, and that's what I was thinking about when I made this card.

I love this stamp set from Lawn Fawn.  My dad used to take me out of school on the occasional Friday and we would go sailing on our little 14-foot sailboat.  Afterwards we would hit the ice cream store (I never mentioned that part to Mom because it was usually around 5:00 or so - too close to dinnertime).  Good memories!

Anyway, I made this for the Lawn Fawn challenge #32 which is a fun, beachy color challenge.  When I added the color for the sky and water I was planning on putting a piece of cardstock over the whole thing that had a circle cut out of the middle to show the water/sky.  But I reconsidered and just went with what was there; it works.

I hope you're having a wonderful summer.  Thanks for stopping by!

MFT Summer Camp 2018

Summer camp over at the My Favorite Things blog is always fun and a great excuse to stroll through my stamp sets and revisit some time-tested design concepts.  The designers almost always share some hot tip that I've either forgotten about or am hearing about for the first time.  Visit the MFT blog HERE to see what I mean.

I made a batch of these cards to have on hand as thank-yous to my little kids (aka preschool students).

The first day of summer camp explored the use of White Space.  There is a lot of white space (for me anyway) on this card.

The second day we talked about primary colors - yay, little primary-colored monsters!

On the last day of summer camp symmetry and asymmetry were discussed.  This card design is asymmetrical, but you can see how I balanced the monsters with the sentiment.

Here's another card I made that uses white space and asymmetry.  It also uses repetition - the day 3 of summer camp topic.  The cool shades were made with a die that I just cut in rainbow colors.

Love me some summer camp!

Everyday Beauty ATC and Matching ATC(oin)

I keep seeing people posting pics of beautiful little circles all arted up.  Is the new rage artist trading coins?  I resisted the artist trading block phase (didn't want to figure out how to store them) and am already addicted to artist trading cards.  Up until yesterday I vowed to resist artist trading coins too.  But then I saw the July trade over on the Stampotique Facebook page and The Muse insisted I play along.  So here's my first attempt at an ATC/ATC duo...

I've been casually playing along with ICAD (index-card-a-day) 2018 (more like index-card-a-week on my end) and the other day I gelli-printed a big batch of index cards to have on hand.  The feathers were stamped on a couple of these and the bases are from my clean-up papers.  Love keeping those and adding a little extra somethin'-somethin' makes them look pretty cool.

I'm entering this in Rubber Dance's July challenge too - Feathers.  Check it out HERE.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.  Cheers!
