SDC 168: Book Text (and more Halloween goodies!)

Y'all know I just can't get enough of Halloween good things. When Corrie picked book text  for the current SDC challenge theme and my buddies in my Mixed Media ATC group decided to add 3 additional ATCs for our swap this time I knew it was time to get busy.  Here's what I did...

I used Girl With Lunchbox and tweaked her a little differently for each ATC.  Amazing how weirdly colored eyeballs can transform a girl into something kinda spooky.

Here's a peek at the three other Halloween-ish ATCs I made for our swap.

I hope you're enjoying October so far.  Cheers!

12 Tags - August

I have been horribly remiss in my participation in Tim Holtz's monthly tags.  I think my last one was March.  I had to do a bit of experimentation on this with mixed results.  See Tim's August tag by clicking HERE and here is my tag.

My first bit of experimentation was using Memento ink instead of Ranger's Archival Ink.  I really need to pick some of that up but thought I could get away with not having it.  How many black inks does one really need?  Apparently one more.  The Memento didn't really work on top of the tape so I used black StazOn instead.  It worked okay but I had to do some touching up on her face with my Pitt pen.

My next bit of experimentation was using embossing paste rather than texture paste.  The stain didn't seep into the embossing paste like it did the texture paste.  I kind of like the way it turned out though.

My third experiment was to combine regular acrylic paint with Distress Paint on the gears.  That worked out pretty well too.  Good to know.

I'm adding this to the Stampotique Designers Challenge Bows challenge this week too.

Have a great week!

The Pros and Cons of Travel...

Is anybody going to an exotic locale on vacation?  There are so many amazing experiences awaiting when one travels but there can be some unfortunate side effects as well.  Kathi over at SDC has challenged us with a travel and/or vacation theme this week.

I had a bear of a time with the theme at first - many projects were cast aside but eventually I came up with a mini wall hanging.

It seems I have a knack for finding quotes or sayings that are a bit 'off'.  They make me chuckle though.  This quote is from Abraham Verghese.

Hopefully you can't relate to the second part of the quote, but if you can, I hope you can smile (even a half-hearted, lopsided smile) about it now.  In the mean time, happy travels!
